"Burwell" Makes Rodeo Headlines in Arizona

The Burwell Tribune - 12/27/2006

Burwell became a celebrity with Shawn Best Jr. riding him for the win in the 2nd go-around and bucking off the 2006 World Champion, Ryan Bitsui, in the short round.

How did Burwell get to Arizona? Burwell is an ABBI registered bucking bull raised and named by Sandie Bonsall after his hometown. K/L Bucking Bulls purchased the bulls with ABBI (American Bull Industry) registered pedigrees to improve their herd. Navajo Indian Stock Contractors, Kenneth Young and Lloyd Pahi, purchased two ABBI registered 5 year old bulls from Sandie and Muriel Bonsall in April. These two full brothers boast of DNA verified pedigrees of PBR bull, Jim Jam. Jim Jam has the highest score in the PBR history with Chris Shivers riding him for 96.5 points. K/L Bucking Bulls purchase of proven pedigrees gave them their first invitation to the Indian National Finals.

Kenneth Young and Lloyd Pahi produce year-around bullridings for the Western Junior Rodeo Association and the PCBRA – Professional Cowboys Bull Riding Association at their custom-designed arena in Page, Arizona. K/L Bucking Bulls have been producing bullridings for 5 years.

Sandie and Muriel Bonsall raise bucking bulls that are campaigned in the ABBI Futurity and Classic bucking bulls events. Sandie Bonsall wanted to capture his hometown name in his bucking bull breeding program and bring it continued notoriety in the rodeo world.
