Bucking Bull Training

We take a practical and organized approach to training bulls. Our training skills revolve around Sandie's past experience of breaking and training horses. Being raised on a ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska he has natural cattle savvy. Coupled with competing in various rodeo events and currently a Senior single steer roper he brings years of wisdom plus patience to training bulls. Unique to the Bonsall's training facility is a free-flow bull exerciser (shown left) - a modern marvel designed to exercise bulls. Going the extra mile the Bonsall's video all practice sessions and ABBI competitions.

Futurity Bulls and Classic Bulls are both included in services offered. Training includes: boarding, feeding, and routine veterinary care. The owners are required to pay hauling, registration fees, major veterinary care, entry fees, and insurance associated with the bull. The Bonsall's retain 10% of all winnings. Additional: Horn tipping; TB/Brucellosis testing; worming; EID tags; health papers per event; toe trimming; hot branding; registration/office fees; and semen collecting/storage.

Question: What is a free-flow bull exerciser?
Answer: This new concept allows a bull to exercise in a natural manner. A carousel rotates a hanging gate that provides an individual compartment for one or more bulls to exercise and walk freely. There is a distance of 150 feet so the bull has plenty of room. When allowed to manage his own speed, a bull will go a little slower at times and a little faster at times. The free-flow bull exerciser is an efficient time management and labor saving invention. It allows for natural regulation of energy expenditure, resulting in a more comfortable exercise session. It can go from 0 to 10 mph, allowing the bull to exercise at all speeds in both directions. This allows for stress-free movements in all gaits. In addition small jumps may be added to increase development of muscular and skeletal systems while improving cardiovascular improvement plus eliminating boredom. Observation and attention to this task are necessary just as these skills are in any other training program. One plans the training bouts to increase in duration and intensity gradually.
